K.R. Thompson

K.R. Thompson writes paranormal stories with a bite and fairytales with a twist. An avid reader and firm believer in the magic of books, she spends her nights either reading an adventure or writing one.

She still watches for evidence of Bigfoot in the mud of Wolf Creek.

10 Questions With K.R. Thompson

1.) What is something that many people might not know about you?

I am addicted to chocolate and books. (Precisely in that order).

2.) What inspired you to write your first book?

I’ve always had a great love of books. It began when I was little, carting around a stack of Nancy Drew mysteries. The thought of actually writing one myself didn’t hit me until later on, when I read a novel by Mary Higgins Clark that had an interview in the back for aspiring authors. That’s what first gave me the idea that I could write my own story, though I didn’t actually start for another year or two afterward.

3.) Who is your favorite author and what is it that really strikes you about their work?

My all-time favorite author is Diana Gabaldon. I actually got the chance to listen to her speak once, which was amazing. What strikes me most about her work are the details to her books. Her characters are so well fleshed out, you feel as if you’d know them if you met them on the street. It takes a special kind of author who can breathe life into her stories.

4.) If you could have dinner with any author, dead or alive, who would it be and why?

That’s a hard one! I think I would choose Mark Twain. I think dinner with him would be the most interesting meal one could have in a lifetime.

5.) What book are you reading now?

I have just started the Kingdom Series by Marie Hall.

6.) Are there any new authors that have captured your interest?

As an indie author, I’m constantly meeting new authors. There are several that have piqued my interest. The latest ones being Dzintra Sullivan and P.A. Crust.

7.) If you had to do it all over again, would you change anything in any of your books?

Hmm. Not really. I think they are as they should be for the most part.

8.) Can you share a little of your current work with us?

Sure! I am currently working on the third book in my Untold Stories of Neverland series, which should be out in the next few months. It is titled “Nerida” and is my own twist to the classic tale of the Little Mermaid.

9.) If you were to get rid of one state in the US, which would it be and why?

The state of “Confusion and Despair” that comes from writer’s block, though I’ve heard it isn’t exclusive to the US. 😉

10.) A penguin walks through that door right now wearing a sombrero. What does he say and why is he here?

“Smile and wave, boys. Smile and wave.”He’s filming the fourth Madagascar movie in Mexico.
